Entrepreneur Ideas - The Thoughts That Led To A New Life

Entrepreneur Ideas That Changed It All For Me

I can still remember the day. The day I sat down in front of my PC, stressed and with tears in my eyes, as I was decided on making a change in my life, not for me, but for a recent addition to the family.

You see, 17 years prior to this date, I had some very realistic entrepreneur ideas that I thought were my calling, the reason I was put on this beautiful Earth.

From a young age, I always enjoyed working with my hands. Whether fixing my friend’s bikes, putting together an entertainment unit my uncle just couldn’t figure out, or working the summers with my Dad in construction and remodeling, the need to always be doing something constructive was ingrained in me.

But I knew there was something more to just fiddling with my hands to that feeling of fulfillment I was missing. Between all the things I had repaired and constructed, none of them made me feel any better about myself when the day was through. I always felt as if something was missing. Something that would make me feel good, no GREAT, about myself.

Entrepreneur Ideas Kept Calling Me

And as the days went by, entrepreneur ideas kept running through my head. “What is it that I really like doing? Well, I like fixing cars. Hmm… I wonder about getting certified in automotive. (Worst move ever!) But what about college? Hmm… I really don’t thing college is for me.” (Notice the lack of confidence to step out of my comfort zone at this time in my life)

So I made what I still think was the worst decision in my life as far as career choices. Don’t get me wrong, for 17 years I was considered one of the top automotive mechanics in any employment I had. But there lied the problem, I was great at what I did, but it still wasn’t enough for me to feel as if I was accomplishing anything.

I always thought to myself “If only I was doing this for myself. If only I was building race cars or doing something out of the ordinary in this field that gave me a sense of accomplishment as if I was the cause of some kind of automotive break through because of my entrepreneur ideas.”

Fast Forwarding My Entrepreneur Ideas

Fast forward 15 years later. My entrepreneur ideas had literally vanished and I felt more empty inside than ever. Life had become a cause and effect scenario that kept playing over and over. No real motivation. No real incentive to do anything different simply because I lacked a sense of confidence to move outside of my comfort zone.

Until that day, the day we as a family welcomed a new addition to our home. The addition of a beautiful baby boy by the name of Steven.

Steven was and still is a GOD sent to our family, but most of all to me. Just by simply holding him that special day made an enormous impact on my frame of mind. The entrepreneur ideas began flowing once again. The thoughts of getting off this hamster wheel I was riding were stronger than ever.

Entrepreneur Ideas Led Me To Real Estate

A few months had passed and I began dabbling into something I was always interested in, Real Estate.

Why? Well the Real Estate industry flows strong in my family as my mother was a Real Estate broker, my uncle STILL is a broker as well, and my brother-in-law has been a commercial and residential investor and rehabber for over 30 years.

So one of the entrepreneur ideas I had was to learn more and begin investing for myself into Real Estate.

But unfortunately, I made this decision a bit too late as the Real Estate industry was tanking at the same time I was beginning to invest. So long story short, I lost over $20,000 in investments, contracts, attorney fees, and so on.

I think you know exactly what this did for me as a person. The brick wall that was already 6 feet tall around me increased to well over 10 feet as my fear of failure at any other entrepreneur ideas literally shattered.

Do you think just anyone can become an entrepreneur or does it take a special someone?

  • Anyone can be an entrepreneur if they choose!
  • Only those born with a Silver Spoon in their mouths can become entrepreneurs!

As I Almost Quit Listening To More Entrepreneur Ideas

Depressed, stressed, and thinking about taking out a big life insurance policy on myself, I sank into an abyss of sorrow. But one little person, even though he couldn’t speak at the time, through his eyes told me to keep moving forward, keep trying and what I want for him, myself, and my family WILL come.

Months went by and those entrepreneur ideas began to bounce around up there again.

Not knowing WHAT to get myself involved in, but knowing that SOMETHING had to be done besides trying to rely on a JOB, I sat down in my home office, at my desk, with a cup of coffee at 11:00pm to keep myself awake, determined to not sleep until I found something I believed in.

Something that will not only provide a means for me to reach those goals for my family, but that will also give me that sense of accomplishment I was looking for my entire life.

Entrepreneur ideas began flowing, well I think it was more like the caffeine kicking in, and I remembered as friend that had mentioned something to the extent of working online, from home.

“Hmm…,” I thought. “What if I could find something that will allow me to work part-time from my home office while I was still working, so that I wouldn’t lose any of the income I was already accustomed to? But I don’t know anything about working online! Shoot, I can barely sort out all the junk mail I get in my inbox! Yeah… maybe not.”

But as I sat there, bouncing from one income opportunity to the next, to me they all seemed to have a few things in common. Generally, it was the ability to relay your message to so many people without having to be confined to just those around you. That’s what caught my eye!

“But how? How do I learn all of this stuff without taking another major loss, and without making my wife want to divorce me in the process!?"

And there it was again, that little voice inside me that was attached to that beautiful face of my son that told me to just keep looking and I’ll find it.

And so I did! I found something to the fact of what I was looking for. Something that will allow me to learn AND implement as I was going. Something that didn’t let me feel alone in the process and something that I honestly can say I believed in.

Two years later, here I am, typing this article to share with you my experience with those little entrepreneur ideas that we ALL have and how I decided to take action on them.

Not because I actually felt as though I was motivated enough BEFORE my son came along, but BECAUSE my son reared his beautiful face and changed my life.

So a change HAD to be made, for us both! A change that has led me to new heights, new accomplishment, and new recognitions in an industry I never thought I would be a part of, mainly because of my fear and lack of confidence to think that I had what it took to make public relations effective for me in a business.

And because of this decision, I achieved being recognized by the top industry leaders such as Mike Dillard, Aaron Rashkin, Ferny Ceballos and Raymond Fong just to name a few. Leaders that I looked at as people that were unreachable, people that would probably never even give me the time of day.

But that should just prove it to you, it doesn’t matter where you’re from or where you’ve been. All that matters is where you’re going. Whether it’s a certain situation in your life, or just the simple fact that you’ve had enough with living the lifestyle you are currently living, the decision is yours, and ONLY yours to make a change.

Do you think you have what it takes? I sure as hell didn’t! But then again, you and I wouldn’t be having this conversation if I just accepted life for what it was and not for what it has to offer. So what are your entrepreneur ideas?

@ Ross - Thank you! I really appreciate the feedback.

@ Jan - Thank you as well! Yes, the Real Estate industry even today is still a risky business. I now a few investors that made it through the storm but even they are barely hanging on.

I really enjoyed this article, Pablo. Like Jan, I too dabbled in real estate and made some money at it before it all tanked. Still own rental that we cash flow on nicely but I think what we are all doing now has a much better prospect. Loved the personal insights.
